Testing the Oval Track for the “Meeting of World Record Holders”
Pinnacle Central & Eastern Europe s.r.o.'s SouthPoint logistics park served a very unique purpose. EKKL a.s. used the Pinnacle´s largest warehouse - DCC (52 000 sqm) to test the oval track for the Meeting of athletic World Record Holders. Director of the event Jan Železný, and Petr Svoboda, a hurdler from the Czech Republic olympic team, both attended the test. The construction of the oval took place in the DCC hall of the park in December 2008. Now, the oval will be dismantled into 884 parts and will be reassembled at Prague’s O2 Arena, where the Meeting of World Record Holders will take place on February 26th.
Aside from the top Czech track athletes, Cuba’s Dayron Robles, the 100m hurdles Olympic champion, former 100m world champion Kim Collins from Saint Kitts and Nevis, 1000m specialist Pamela Jelimo from Kenya, high jumper Blanka Vlašič and Dawn Harper, the Olympic hurdles champion, will also participate. Organizers say that pole vaulter Jelena Isinbajeva will also compete at the event.
